What to call Bill is up for grabs. First Spouse is used in the media, but that’s awfully awkward and makes it sound like divorce is imminent. Bill doesn’t quite seem like a First Gentleman either, not after being Slick Willie and Big Dog and philandering around. Perhaps First Gent will do. It is more rakish.
Or, First Man to be the First Lady, as a nod to gender diversity.
Out of respect, Hillary will be Ms. President or Lady President, even though she’s already being called Her Herness Herself and The Hilldebeest. Her Hillaryness might sound cool though.
On to more problems with the English language’s leadership vocabulary. How can a she be the Commander in Chief? Would Wonder Woman be a better military moniker? Is she alone in considering herself a super-heroine? Who can forget her opportunistic vote to engage in Iraq? Was taking that gung-ho position trying to show she had gung-ho creds?
Don’t get me wrong. I want those Hill-Billies to beat Trump. It’s essential. Still (can’t you tell?) I’m not inspired.
