The two combatants left in the NBA Playoffs are ready to square off. And since we have a week before they actually tip off, let’s put the full court press on for this week’s edition of Sports Explained: The NBA Finals.

After eight months of professional basketball, only two teams remain for a chance to take home the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
Little known tidbit; Larry the Cable Guy’s actual last name, you guessed it…Whitney. But I digress.
Next Thursday, Golden State will be in its first NBA Finals since the mid 70s. That’s right. The last time the Warriors were in the Finals, their best player hadn’t even born yet. In fact, looking at him, you might think Steph Curry was born in the new millennium rather than the old.
Judge for yourself.

Despite visual evidence, Curry is actually 27 years old.
As great as Curry has been in the regular season, and postseason, other family members have stolen the show, but Curry doesn’t mind, in fact…
Curry’s game is definitely blessed, and he has been graced with the cutest daughter of any professional player currently playing in the NBA Finals for the Golden State Warriors that looks like a kid himself.
On the other side, however, Curry has had to deal with another family member’s cuteness: his mom. Now we at the Sports Explained Thunderdome are not one to jump on any bandwagon to show you needless images, but we do feel it’s our duty to keep you informed.

The Finals are a best of seven series with the first two games and the last two (if necessary) played in Golden State and the middle three in Cleveland.
The Cavs lost one of their “Big Three” in Kevin Love in the opening series, and Kyrie Irving has been hobbled throughout the playoffs. They are in this position thanks to LeBron James, whose latest big Decision was to come home to Northeast Ohio.
Cue dramatic reading in 5….4…3…2…1…

You see, five years ago Cleveland was like this:

Then last year, the winds shifted and all of a sudden…
Now, four games away from the first professional title in Cleveland since 1964, people in C-Town be like…
On the other side of ledger, the Warriors haven’t been this fun to watch since the days of Run TMC:
But while Golden State is the favorite, in sports, anything can happen.
There’s really only one thing left to do…
