Vaping has some hidden dangers of which parents should be aware. Tyler Jacobson is here to point them out for you!

Research has shown vaping delivers far fewer carcinogens than traditional forms of nicotine delivery and for that reason many parents do not worry as much about their teen vaping. However, it is possible for your teen to be using their vaping apparatus to abuse illicit drugs without their parents being able to detect the odors.
Vapor Pens: The Modern Joint
Vapor pens have become the modern marijuana joint. Your kids could be smoking pot and you have no idea. Marijuana has a potent and distinctive odor which makes it very easy to notice. But what you may not have known is that marijuana oil can be smoked with a vapor pen, making the familiar smell of weed almost untraceable.
There’s Such A Thing As Marijuana Oil?
Yes! Marijuana and hashish are two different parts of the same plant—cannabis sativa. Marijuana comes from dried parts of the plant. Hash comes from the sap of the plant and is distributed as a paste. Since hashish comes from the concentrated sap it also contains more or the psychoactive agent, Tetrahydrocannabinol. Since vapor pens do not burn the oil, there is almost no smell so it becomes a virtually undetectable method for getting high.
Can Teens Vape Other Drugs?
So far the answer is no. Right now there is only anecdotal evidence that vapor pens have been used for other drugs like meth or heroin. Vapor devices on the market today are unable to heat other drugs to a high enough temperature. However, as the saying goes – necessity is the mother of invention. If other drugs could be undetected by using a vapor pen, it would certainly benefit the illicit drug trade. It seems highly unlikely such a device could be a reality simply because of the limits of the apparatus.
Keeping Pot Away From Your Teens
Without the discernible odor of marijuana, you may be feeling helpless to keep your teens from using pot. However, research proves there is one thing parents can do: Talk to your teens about the dangers of drug use. Talking is not an exercise in futility. By just talking to your teens, you are making progress. If your teen is already vaping or suddenly starts, keep your guard up. The sooner you get your teen help with their drug abuse issues the greater their chance for recovery.
There is SO MUCH misinformation in this article it’s actually farcical. Please stick to social commentary, and leave drug ‘information’ to people who actually know what they are talking about. Let’s go through the misinformation: ‘Hash comes from the sap of the plant’ – Hash does not come from the sap of the cannabis plant – not even close. It comes from the trichomes which are present on the surface of cannabis buds/flowers. It’s exactly the same active ingredient as dried cannabis flower – just a more potent form.
