Eric Shapiro realizes a whole lot of people wish the protesters in Baltimore should just go home. Here’s why he believes that is the last place they should go.

As we’ve watched Baltimore give way to protests, tension, outrage, and violence in the past few days, we’ve seen some debate in the media as to what makes for an appropriate reaction on the part of those in protest. Protests or riots? Peace or violence? It’s an important debate, albeit an eternal one — that is, one that can never be resolved. It’s the MLK vs. Malcolm X debate: Is peace too passive? Violence too aggressive? Further back, it’s a quintessential Jesus Christ debate: Should thou punch thy enemy, or cloak him in a warm embrace?
Roosevelt Road in Chicago never rebuilt after the riots in 1967.
If you are going to protest, don’t trash the homes and businesses of people who had nothing to do with the brutality. Concentrate on the police and only the police. Without them the politicians have no real power.
