Cisco Araya is a a little bit opera, a little bit heavy metal, and an entirely devoted husband and father.
My husband Cisco Araya and I have been married for 31 years. We met in high school band when I was 15 and he was 16. We were friends for 6 years before we started being romantic. We have 4 children. 3 daughters 29, 26, 16 and 1 son, 14.
My husband was in the Marine Corps and also raised by very traditional Latino parents. He came to this country from Chile when he was 8. He is one of the most gentle, fun, kindest, most respectful men that I know. He enjoys his male friends, too, but women especially adore him because he genuinely likes women as people and feels comfortable with them and this makes them feel comfortable, too.
He’s a Telecommunications Construction Splicer who works outside in a really macho physical job. He’s also a musician/songwriter who writes songs for the children and love songs to me. His brother is the lead singer of the heavy metal band, Slayer. He enjoys their music as well as classical, opera and so much more. He’s taught several of us how to play guitar and bass. Our younger kids are in an alternative/punk band that we completely support. We took them on tour in May. He helps them with their musical equipment needs.
I think Cisco Araya exemplifies what a good man and a good father are.
