This year could be the year to take that passion and love it enough to live it.

Yes, it’s fast approaching. The time when we wait for the ball to drop, to count down to one around the T.V. set, and maybe even steal our first kiss of the year. And, of course, there are the New Year’s Resolutions. Possibly the only thing as fleeting as the kiss we stole at midnight.
The fact is we all have the same amount of time. 24 hours in a day.

You’ve heard them all. You’ve probably even made them all; lose some weight, stop smoking, start a fitness routine, etc. But all these goals worthy as they may be are usually short lived. Why?
Because we lack the one thing we need. The Resolve in Resolution. Year after year we have trained ourselves to talk the talk but unfortunately not walking the walk. We do the same things expecting different results and you know what that is called “insanity.”

Goals are just goals and dreams are just dreams until YOU decide to apply actions to your thoughts. The reasons we fail to follow through? We don’t have enough time, and we don’t hold ourselves accountable. The fact is we all have the same amount of time. 24 hours in a day. That’s all we get.
The truth is we don’t need any more time. What we need to do is to decide that our resolutions are important enough to us to make the time for them. This may require you to let some things go to do that. If you want it bad enough, you will find the time.
You are the only person that you have to answer to, that face in the mirror. No one else can do it for you, but that doesn’t mean you have to do it alone. Reach out to someone that you know, like, and trust. Ask them to be your accountability partner and ask if you can serve in that role for them. Partnerships can be a powerful thing and knowing that someone is looking over your shoulder (with your best interest at heart) can help you stay on course.

When you reach your destination, celebrate and chart your next course. Take a quick look over your shoulder to reflect on the journey and savor the success. Then keep moving forward! Don’t forget to share your story. You never know who you might inspire.
Now you’ve broken the mold and can duplicate the process. This year could be the year to take that passion and love it enough to live it. I think Wayne Dyer said it best. “There is no scarcity of opportunity to make a living at what you love; there’s only scarcity of resolve to make it happen.”
To your Resolve!

Thank you for the shares.
True story. I find that vocabulary is important to me. A “New Year’s Resolution” has never meant much because of the de-emphasis society places on it. Instead, I prefer to have goals, specific goals, to progress in specific parts of my life: career, knowledge, spiritual, family/relationships, financial, etc. I appreciate the solution that you offered for accountability, which is that if you can’t or won’t be accountable to yourself, find someone else to help you to be accountable to yourself. It is so much easier and so much better to walk through this life with good partners and good friends… Read more »
