The War on Drugs is bunk dope. All this anti-drug propaganda campaign accomplished was to line the pockets of the legal system and prison industrial complex. This is quite apparent when we see that half of the drug related prison population are drug users, and add the fact that the majority are receiving no treatment or rehabilitation for their addictions.
Once again the U.S. justice and prison system prove to only be slavery thinly disguised by a culture of fear.

And I should note that there is a difference between “addiction” and “Abuse.”
Working with adolescent males in a residential setting, the wide majority of the kids are brought to us via the court system. I can safely say that most, although having used drugs, were incarcerated for other reasons beyond simple possession. You may also want to consider that many of these kids broke their probation because they dropped dirty and or were in possession of drugs.
