Choose your design and have your new car ‘printed’ by the end of the day.
___
Local Motors has produced the Strati, the world’s first driveable 3D printed car. Unlike modern, mass-production cars that have thousands of parts, the Strati has only 49, including its body. Strati is the brainchild of Local Motors CEO Jay Rogers, who was written up in Travelers Today.
Surprisingly, the original design that was meant for the first 3D printed car actually did not come directly from Local Motors. Instead, the company encourages its members to share vehicle design ideas, perhaps the traits that they would want their dream 3D printed car to have. The finished products are then sold on the Internet or in various retail stores by Local Motors.
