Dillan DiGiovanni is curious why they did it, but all that really matters is, it’s awesome.
So, two bros from the Navy baseball team recently posted a video of themselves lip syncing to “Love Is An Open Door” from the smash hit movie, Frozen.
So, why did these two dudes do a lip sync to a song, sharing parts of a duet sung between a girl and a boy during a Disney film?
I think the better question is why the heck not?
We’ve seen lip syncing a lot lately, courtesy of the new Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon. No doubt these guys knew it would get a lot of hits, much like the video of the Harvard baseball team lip syncing to Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen in 2012. They might get those hits and popularity because, for many people, it’s weird or quirky or funny to see guys, specifically guys perceived to be straight and matching our dominant masculine stereotypes, doing “cute” things like this.
We may never know the motivation of these two guys, but we can certainly be present to the fact that it means “something”.
