Our DIY of the Day. Complete with the joys of time-lapse videography.
This two guys simply put up some beams, door, sheetrock, insulation, paint, viola. Our favorite part? That they are obviously working into the night to get it all done. Oh, that and the jumps for joy at the end.
Shot and edited by Kryshan Randel (www.kryshanrandel.com) and Andy Thompson (www.andythompson.ca). More details on their YouTube page.
The outside door leads into the bedroom?! Thought they were going to fill in the doorway, and move it to where the window was.
I would just think that the The Good Men Project might have editors who knew to capitalize proper nouns.
Sheetrock is a brand name, sheetrock doesn’t exist.
Come now, plenty of people refer to gypsum panels as “sheetrock” just as they refer to facial tissues as “kleenex” despite both being brand names. Moreover, if you’re not in the construction trade you may not know Sheetrock® is a brand from USG and not the generic name.
I’m wondering why they installed those gypsum panels vertically instead of horizontally (the latter being a stronger orientation). I’m guessing the ceiling was higher than 8 ft and they wanted to avoid a thin strip (I hide strips < 4" at the bottom, where they'll be covered by baseboard).
I’ve never heard anyone NOT say “sheetrock”!
Always been sheetrock in my world
But then again, if we want to pick …. Xerox is a product name but a lot of people make xerox copies on other then xerox copiers.
I was just pointing out that when you say it, at least with Sheetrock, you are actually saying Sheetrock. While I don’t think people need to use a trademark symbol every time they use a brand name, I do feel authors should at least understand basic style guidelines like capitalization of proper nouns. If the post is put up by “The Editors”, it’s just that much worse that they didn’t capitalize it. Picky, maybe. Expecting more from a site called goodmenproject, surely.
