This is the landscape telling its story.
–––
All around us are the tales of feeding, resting, procreating, playing, living, and ultimately dying.
This is the greatest story on Earth and one that is all too easily overlooked.
In a few short steps it is possible to discover the passing place of the Wild Boar, the dust bathing spot of the House Sparrow, the landing point of a falcon descending on its prey and the last meal of the Genet with its beetles and rodents.
All around us, and operating in every moment, is the three dimensional web of life acting and interacting with itself.
The traces of this are left for us to find.
Now I know the rock to sit upon to watch the Boar as it passes on its way, the place where the Genet will be as it sets out in search of more prey and where I can sit and watch the Sparrows play and possibly witness their final act as the Falcon descends.
I wonder what they think of me and the role I play in their wild stories…
