A group of concerned citizens wants to bring back the original Presidential fitness program from La Sierra High to our schools.

I hope that we will not find a day in the United States when all of us are spectators except for a few who are out on the field.

Something so basic as physical health has had vast repercussions for society, often in unexpected places. Military recruits–their health is often mediocre at best upon entering basic training. I wish my high school had been better regarding physical health, but considering the poverty endemic to that area, those kids had to focus on academics if they were to have a chance at all.
Is it because of poverty or is it because we’ve turned into a system that’s minimizing the positive affect of health and replacing it with something much more tame so as to accommodate those who struggle with physical activity. Some schools are going to the “no winner, no loser” mentality. We want everyone to be happy, everybody to be winners.
Personally, I would like to see these programs come back. Government is mandating school menus but are leaving out another key component and that is physical health.
