Theresa Byrne says if your “Big Vision of Greatness” stops you cold in your tracks today, then let it go.

I call it “the Siren Song of the Big Vision.” It’s beguiling and attractive and interesting and calls out to you, but beware! Left on the rocks in front of those sirens are multitudes of people who kept thinking “I’m meant to Be Great” and were stopped by their own vision of greatness. Millions of people that “could’ve been contenders.”

A question from an incredibly talented man I coach made me realize we don’t do ourselves a service by constantly thinking we need to live into some grand visionary version of our lives.
Yes, it’s important to have big dreams. Yes, being motivated and inspired to achieve something bigger than yourself matters. Yes, these things are possible.
But when does that Big Vision of our lives actually shut us down?
Here’s what my client said: “I have always seen myself doing this on a stage. I have a hard time understanding why I feel the way I do when I see myself on video. I know I am supposed to be like Anthony Robbins. I see myself on stage, but I just don’t know how to get from here to there. I feel so insecure about this which has me go right into ego. I thought earlier today ‘why am I even here?’ I don’t understand what this journey is all about. It’s a strange thing this game called life. I take this all to mean that I am just supposed to feel through it. Old energy that comes to the surface can be very dark and ugly. I remain open to receiving any gifts and clarity to my path. All I desire is to do what I love and love what I do. I love working. But why do I judge myself so harshly when I see myself?”

Ah there’s the rub. The Big Vision pulls us forward into the greater-yet-to-be. It pulls us to motivate and inspire us when we tap into it. And when doubt creeps in, that big vision turns into more of a daunting nightmare haunting our thoughts of “what we’re supposed to be” and “the big life we’re supposed to have.”
I know I am supposed to be like Anthony Robbins. I see myself on stage I just don’t know how to get from here to there. I feel so insecure about this which has me go right into ego. I thought earlier today “why am I even here’. I don’t understand what this journey is all about.

Our psyche holds us back when it tells us, “Oh sure, you’re supposed to be really important and great but you can’t even get this or that done. You’re so far from being a success.”
The feeling in our body becomes like a dense heavy energy that makes us feel like we are walking through sand in a dream.
I asked this gentleman if he’d consider giving up the Big Vision of being like Tony Robbins (because Mr. Robbins is really just a guy doing his thing; it’s really just him being him.) Others have their “I’m ready to be on Oprah!” moments, and get depressed because Ms. O isn’t calling. What would happen if you just let it all go. Seriously. It’s a fantasy of some Big Future. The Grand You. AND IT’S NOT HAPPENING YET.
The only moment in time where we have the power to make things happen or get things done is now. And if you aren’t on stage yet, ala Mr. Tony Robbins, then it might not serve you to try to live into it.
If that Big Vision feels great and energizes you to do your thing day after day, that’s when it serves you.

However, if that Big Vision feels great and energizes you to do your thing day after day, that’s when it serves you. It’s all about the energy.
But if it makes you feel less than perfect, or depresses you in a way that drains you: STOP IT. Let it GO!
I’m not saying it won’t happen, but not like this. This picture in your head is a gift of vision. Call it precognition of a potential amazing future, who doesn’t love that vision?
But if it’s stopping you cold in your tracks right now, it’s not serving you. Unless there’s something you can do right now to achieve that goal. If there’s absolutely no thing you can do Right Now to get There, let it go.
There is a place over there, that isn’t Here. That isn’t Now. If that’s stopping you, then you’re being blocked by own Your Greatness. Silly, huh? Let it go.
If that VISION OF GREATNESS is only inspiring you to look at current reality and shut down your abilities, let it go.
Let’s move that Big Vision into a version of a potential future and live right now.
You CAN’T get There from Here, you can only do the one next step. One thing at a time.
Being “Great One Day” translates into being with today, and doing great things now.
