Until a week ago this whole landscape flashed brilliant yellow to the flowering of Inula.
–––
This vivid member of the daisy family times her flowering to coincide with the height of the long Andalucian drought.
In this way she ensures there are no competitors for her nectar rich flowers.
In the same way the second emergence of many butterflies and other insects occurs as the Inula flowers.
Here is yet another example of the perfect timing and synchronicity of the natural world.
Now though the blossoms are spent and the seeds are being released to the winds in their untold millions.
Eventually these latent capsules of life will settle until it is their turn to continue the story of this ecology.
