Your neighbour is
having a garage sale.
She’s a very sweet older woman, who has only ever been friendly and kind to you. As you are looking over what she has for sale you overhear her say that she is holding the sale to raise money for her granddaughter, who is sick and requires very expensive medical treatment. Even with insurance, the whole family needs to start finding additional funds anyway they can.
As you hear this you spy a small framed painting in the corner and almost have a mini-heart attack at the sight of it. It looks just like a painting you read about a few months back. It had sold at auction for $10 million and the article you read noted that it had originally been part of a two painting set and the two pieces would have likely sold for $35 million were it not for the fact that no one knew where the second painting was.
The handwritten price tag on the painting reads $50.
Do you buy the painting or do you tell the kind old woman with the very sick granddaughter that she MIGHT be sitting on a gold mine?
