Shawn Maxam thinks happiness comes from simple pleasures like seeing a baby smile.
Making the decision to have a child – it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.

Babies invoke a ton of adjectives. Cute, innocent, love and expensive. But babies are a perfect example of how we should all approach life.
Outside of actual necessities like food, shelter and love babies are easily entertained and content. Some might argue that’s because they aren’t contaminated by the evils and harsh realities of the world which is true but I’m not referring to their character, sense of self etc.
Babies don’t need iPads, game consoles, cable TV or the latest gadget to make them happy unless they’re the E-Trade baby of course (talk about needy).
Babies can play with spoons, blocks or even their own feet for hours. They will laugh at the same joke incessantly. What if we approached life with the same wide-eyed openness?
So next time you accuse me of acting like a kid just remember I actually have a reason for being a bit playful and childish.
Check out this great example of happiness from a baby:

This is awesome! If only we were so carefree. I think I need a vacation from adulthood.
Yeah the laughing baby is hilarious and super-cute. Adults can definitely learn from babies. Just start ripping up paper for your vacation. Thanks for reading.
As trying as it can feel from time to time with young children, all you need to do is think of those moments of pure joy as a distraction from the times when things are difficult. Like when my son and daughter run, shrieking in exhilirating happiness, as I chase them around the house pretending to be a monster, or a dinosaur, or a bear, or whatever….. That five minutes of play banishes the cloud of negative feelings about work, or the leak in the roof. I cherish that aspect of having my kids be a big part of my life. As much work as it is, it is doubly rewarding.
That’s really beautiful Jon. Thanks for sharing.
Happy babies turn into disgruntled adults, especially when they discover their baby mugshot has been circulated on the web -_- lol
