The best song parodies are the ones made by The Muppets.
Here Cookie Monster puts a family-friendly spin on the cloyingly popular Tween sensation “Call Me, Maybe” that makes the original song significantly more tolerable.

Another amazing Muppets remake is Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody… Though my boys like the original better—Izz says it’s because he gets really sad when Animal is calling for his mom—I will admit to sort of like ing them both equally. Is that Classic Rock blasphemy?
What do you think of these parodies? Do your kids enjoy them?
I never used to like The Muppets before, but now that I’m getting older, I’m finding The Muppets to be funnier, mostly because they’re riffing on things that are more relatable to me. I find Sesame Street hilarious because they often do parody pop culture things, like Grover’s Old Spice parody. But they also bring on a lot of actors and actresses I like on there, like Ricky Gervais. Anything with Elmo and Ricky Gervais, to me, is amazing.

With total love and respect for Jim Henson’s Muppets, I feel manipulated by the more recent Muppet-branded offerings. It seems obvious that they’re trying to get my generation to think the Muppets are cool again, and hook our kids on it. They realized they missed Gen Y but it’s not too late to create a legacy. But they’re just not the same 🙁 #nostalgiafail
Sesame Street ALWAYS did a lot of pop culture stuff!
Of course they have. So why does it feel different this time? It’s just a feeling I’ve got, that they’re aiming at adults, not at kids. Am I the only one who left the last Muppets movie feeling kind of bad?
I don’t know, we liked The Muppets movie with Jason Segal…
Maybe we need to re-watch the old ones to see.
