Science publications are going nuts over Enceladus, one of Saturn’s moons, which has—get this—a fizzy ocean that sends plumes of water vapor, gas, and ice erupting out of its south pole. This photo, captured by the Cassini spacecraft on the dark side of the moon, has confirmed researchers’ hypothesis of an underground sea bubbling (literally) miles beneath the surface.
The geysers pictured here are thought to release approximately one ton of water every second (harnessing about 13 billion watts of energy). But mostly, they’re pretty damn cool to look at.
This is amazing. I want one.
