Shortly before the beginning of the Korean War, Dean Acheson gave a speech which included the assertion that Korea was not in our sphere of interest. A couple of years later, amid the horror of the Korean War, a Nork dipplemat remarked to an Indian of the same profession that he felt the Norks had been misled. Possibly even set up.
