Players on the Algerian national soccer team, which lost in a knockout-round bout against Germany in the World Cup, will donate all of its money to the people of Gaza, a report stated.

Striker Islam Slimani, who scored twice in Brazil, was quoted saying that he will donate his portion of the cash compensation that he received for making it into and advancing in the World Cup.
As The Independent notes, for Slimani, who plays for Sporting Lisbon and may be set for a big move given his World Cup performance, his donation is a modest sacrifice compared to the bulk of his teammates, who earn less lucrative contracts in lower-profile leagues.
But, as the Algerian squad returned home to an open-top bus parade thrown in their honor, Slimani said that he and his teammates would be making the donation, with the simple explanation that they need the money more.

Algeria, which advanced to the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time ever, had already grown admirers for success in Brazil. This generous donation to Gaza will no do no harm to the team’s growing reputation.
