Bono says, “What are the blind spots of our age? It might be something as simple as our deep-down refusal to believe that every human life has equal worth”
In his most recent TEDTalk U2 lead singer and longtime activist Bono points out that, “Human beings have been campaigning against inequality and poverty for 3,000 years. But this journey is accelerating.” He “embraces his inner nerd” and shares inspiring data that shows — if we can harness the momentum — the end of poverty is in sight.
Bono uses his celebrity to fight for social justice globally. His goal is to finally end hunger, poverty and disease, especially in Africa. His nonprofit ONE raises awareness through media, policy and calls to action.
Bono is an elitist fraud, who needs the world’s poor, more than they need him. Billionaires should not speak for the growing ranks of the impoverished. How can they without being hypocrites? Indeed, his ilk who daily increase their obscene wealth without even lifting a finger, and then preen themselves in front of an audience of well heeled gawkers, are themselves part of the problem.
This is funny. Almost all the poverty reduction in the last 30 years has been due to capitalism and globalization. Actually make that the last 400 years. And its all ridiculously good news. Yet the left does not see it because it doesn’t fit into their socialist ideology.
