Broadcast icon Dick Clark, the longtime host of the influential “American Bandstand,” has died, publicist Paul Shefrin said. He was 82.
Clark suffered a heart attack while at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica for an outpatient procedure, his publicist said Wednesday. “Attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful.”
Rest in Peace, Dick. New Year’s Eve won’t be the same without you.
What’s your favorite Dick Clark TV memory?
For me, I’ll always remember Dick Clark as the charasmatic and well spoken host of the game shows “$25, 000 Pyramid” and “$100, 000 Pyramid”.
There’s just something about his tone and speech that make even the most repetative things sound better. Especially as contestants get ready to go through a round when they pick a subject:
Clark: “Okay, describe these things associated with ________”, “These are things that _____”, “We’re looking for things associated with _____” (Repeats the rule again, more slowly)
Clark: Ready. GO!
Even now, I think about it and I’m filled with pleasent memories.
