Stroke Study Causes Heart Attack

Jamie Reidy overreacts to new data connecting poor sleep habits to an increased risk of stroke.

What in the name of Billy Squier was USA Today thinking?!

How about a fucking warning label for these “health” headlines?

USA Today’s Janice Lloyd reports:

The 30% of working adults who routinely sleep less than six hours a night are four times more likely to suffer a stroke, says a new study.

Why not just say, “Jamie Reidy, Get Your Affairs in Order”?!

“Dead Man Reading.”

“The public is less aware of the impact of insufficient amounts of sleep. Sleep is important — the body is stressed when it doesn’t get the right amount.”

Yeah, the body also gets stressed when the brain finds out its gonna die soon.

GMP readers, what medical/health headlines would give you a heart attack?

  1. In people who fell into normal weight categories — a body mass index of 18.5 to nearly 25 — those who reported sleeping less than six hours a night were at about 4.5 times greater risk of developing stroke symptoms than whose who slept seven and eight hours a night. Surprisingly, that increase wasn’t apparent in overweight or obese people who slept less. (my emphasis)

Well, it’s good to see that the risk factors doesn’t accumulate and that I can stay up late commenting on GMP without any additional risk – at least until I loose some weight.
