Mike Sacks discusses the attack in Woolwich, London, and extremism with a panel of experts on Islam and the Quran.
HuffPost Live gathered three men with personal knowledge of Islam and the Quran together to talk about the brutal beheading of British soldier Lee James Rigby in Woolwich, London, last week.
As a Muslim I wholly condemns the Woolwich atrocity without exception. The perpetrators are cowards, barbaric, and nothing in Islam justifies this vicious act. In this interview, I argue that it is not Islam that needs reform, but Muslims. The Islam that Prophet Muhammad taught is one of absolute justice, separation of mosque and state, and universal human rights. Rashid also points out that according to a recent report released by the FBI:
Over the last 25 years only 6% of acts of terrorism on American soil were by Muslims, 7% were by Jews, 40% were by the Left Wing extremists, but nobody questions Judaism, or Christianity, or Left Wing political ideology …

A rough timeline of which attacks occurred, and by which group? How did the FBI categorise groups? Full disclosure: Yes, I am Jewish, and no, I’m not American (Israeli from Jerusalem; Toronto, Canada born). This is not a matter of me trying to defend my fellow Jews, but rather an honest-to-goodness question of the definition of terrorism within the past 25 years. A link to the report might even suffice,… Read more »

From what I understand, the attackers did not know the victim but jumped to the conclusion that he was a British soldier or former soldier, based on a shirt he was wearing and maybe his appearance. As if there were not enough atrocities here counter to the spirit of Islam, there’s another thing for such assailants to consider. How do you know the guy you just killed wasn’t a Muslim himself? Just because he’s a white guy you think he’s not part of the same community that you are? What a load of racist garbage. I don’t assume that someone… Read more »
