Man of the Day: Anderson Cooper

Anderson Cooper is moving to daytime. Well, sort of.

The intrepid host of CNN’s nightly Anderson Cooper 360 has just signed another deal with CNN for an hour-long daytime talk show, to air in the fall of next year. He will continue to host the nightly show as well.

“It’s fun and interesting to work in daytime television,” said Cooper. “The format is unique and you can really go in-depth on a wide range of fascinating and compelling stories. With this new program I hope to relay important information and relate to people and the audience in a completely different way. It’s an exciting opportunity to show another side of myself and create something worthwhile and special in daytime.”

The show is expected to be a mix between journalism and your typical daytime interview fare. Cooper will cover everything from Lady Gaga to national education.

A former child model and Yale grad, Cooper got his start by traveling to Myanmar with a forged press pass and selling homemade news segments to Channel One, the teenage news service. He then moved to ABC News for a few years, only to become the host of the forgettable reality show The Mole.

Thankfully, he left The Mole after its second season and took a job with CNN. From there, he was given his own show in 2003, and he’s been there ever since.

Watch him go off on Andrew Shervill, the Assistant Attorney General of Michigan and a man with some clearly deep-seeded issues.
