And there you have it; rape themed outreach to women voters. Angry, sexist, condescending and racist, with just a dash of “you’ll get what you deserve.” Well played gun rights movement!
(Oh…and before you dismiss these entirely, take a look at the number of retweets.)
Here are some screen grabs in case any of them go away.

Put it to bed Zaggs
As nonsensical as some of the liberal tweet discourse may be with regards to preventing crime, the noisy conservatives have nothing of value to add on this front. A Conservative crony satirical hash tag could be invented in a nanosecond:
#ConcernedConservativeTips2AvoidEverything:
– hire Wayne Lapierre as a personal body guard
– carry a concealed ninja warrior in your back pack
– have your baby carry extra clips in their Huggies
– arm rescue dogs with AR 15’s
– build a bunker inside your bunker to thwart and confuse tyrannical governments
Get the idea?
Except not one of those ideas relies on one’s self. Maybe you should try arguing in your native language since english seems to confuse you.
I see – self-reliance is what we should rely on. We’re not a species of mountain goats Zaggs, we’re what are called a “social species”. We rely on each other often.
But don’t let the above interfere with your bunker mentality.
Oh and lets not forget, contrary to what Mark Greene would have you believe, its not just one congressman. Joe Biden basically said the same thing, fire a shotgun in the air. A conservative would say use a gun that can be aimed easier and shoot the attacker. Keep in mind, liberals are against the castle doctrine and some like Obama are against semi-automatic handguns (unless you truly believe his staff in Chicago was capable or forging an entire essay in his handwriting). So they don’t actually want women to defend themselves against attackers, because if all women could, then… Read more »
Oh, I see. And now the police are the problem in crime prevention? Amazing. Ask anyone in New York City why the crime rate is down here. They won’t say its because we’re all packing heat.
The lowering crime rate in NY has nothing to do with gun control. If gun control lowered violent crime rates than places like Chicago or DC would be crime free while places like Houston would be murder capitals. But you really believe that police are truly there to PREVENT crime? Yeah, criminals love that type of thinking. Police are there to punish someone AFTER committing a crime in the hope that it will lower crime rates over all. Here are 2 versions of a rape. Lets start with yours. Rapist breaks into a woman’s apartment, she calls the police (assuming… Read more »
HOw do you prove the rapist intended on raping the woman if she is unraped and he’s dead.
Also, living with the knowledge that you killed someone, even in self defense, is something one has to live with all life long as well. I also figure if you are scared and the rapist is prepared, they might grab the gun. Or what if you shoot yourself accidentally. Or then..if you don’t shoot the rapist are you somehow consenting? Cause you’d shoot if it was rape? This is a hot mess of an idea.
Look there is training for using a gun so that you won’t hurt yourself or shoot friendlies accidentially and some close combat training would be also in order so the attacker can’t just grab your gun.
Also there is mental training for making it easier to kill humans.
That is if you wan’t to get a gun and be able to use it.
“Or then..if you don’t shoot the rapist are you somehow consenting?”
No.
It’s clear you’ve been watching too many CSI episodes.
What if a band of roaming rapists break into your house and all you have for defense is a shotgun? You can maim one, maybe two, but the other three…911 can’t possible help and surely one of the rapists is a police sergeant off duty.
Now what do you do?
Evade and reload if possible otherwise use shotgun as a blunt melee weapon.
Just liberals being obtuse. Most of these you can instantly tell are mocking liberals failed policies (school counselors giving out birth control, not having guns, free phones, etc). If were a woman I’d be more pissed that Joe Biden doesn’t think I could handle an AR-15.
Give people a technology that allows them to tell the entire world every thought the instant they think it, without any editing or any filtering or any personal consequences, and then multiply that by billions of people, and don’t be surprised when you find all sorts of nuggets like these. This all seems so dramatic and scandalous because the technology still seems new. In a few years we will find it really silly to have such outrage over tweets. Unfortunately or fortunately, the distinctions between what we think and what we do, and the useful filters we use to screen… Read more »
Nailed it.
You should note that this is the context: http://jezebel.com/5985354/colorado-rep-thinks-college-ladies-dont-know-when-theyre-going-to-be-raped
What we’re seeing here goes way beyond what one state senator says. This is some kind of social/cultural implosion.
Oh for the love of… I would love to explain this but, the person who created the hashtag already did: When the story broke about some idiot Colorado state senator’s comments to try to reassure potential rape victims that a whistle is just as good as a gun to ward off assailants, my little brown brain got into action!!! I thought of a funny hashtag to mock the situation – but I want to make this clear – I’m mocking the Senator who thinks a whistle is just as good a deterrent against violent crime as a gun. Later in… Read more »
Just goes to show you that when it comes to actual concern and mocking it is only okay for certain people to mock and only some concerns are legitimate.
You know, I certainly can appreciate your need to explain this whole thing, but I’d like to be clear about something here. The people commenting on this tag are saying things that are WAY BEYOND disgusting. The hashtag is just a holding space for a lot of nasty evil stuff.
Exactly, Mark. Plus, I’d argue that the original purpose for the hashtag was pretty offensive too. Go ahead and mock Senators all you like (liberal, conservative, whatever); that part isn’t offensive. The problem is with the idea that somehow the victim can prevent rape. If the “joke,” is that obviously a whistle wouldn’t work as well as a gun, then that presupposes a gun is an actual deterrent to rape. And that relies on the idea that it’s the victim’s responsibility to prevent his/her rape.
The problem is explanations like that are being replaced by “What? That’s offensive and insulting! I’m going to do something offensive and insulting in return!”
What a fine state of Twitter. Instead of actually trying to talk out one’s differences over a hashtag the response has become to hijack/attack/mock/insult.
No, but she has a right to defend herself, if she doesn’t choose to OK, but as a rape survivor I can tell you, having a gun made all the difference went a man broke into my house with evil on his mind. I certainly wasn’t waiting until the police got around to getting to my call. The ratcheting of a 12 guage will darn sure make a man think twice about his “desires”. I will say this, if you are unsure about whether you can pull the trigger, owning a gun is not for you, the criminal will probably… Read more »

Indeed, hurling insults is not condusive to any civilized conversation. I have found this “need” on both sides of the proverbial political fence. Most people are fairly intelligent, so their need to bully another who disagrees with them with insult and slur just makes them appear stupid. This is not a nice article, and I feel to balance it out, the goodmenproject.com ought to post one of the equally insulting and rude set of liberal tweets. I don’t know, maybe some of the kill Romney, or Kill Anne, or any of the myriad of nasty insulting tweet sets from twitchy.… Read more »
Most rapists are not bulletproof terminators. Seriously, if you claim that a gun is not a deterrent to rape you also claim that the person in question is pathetic at using said gun.
Why does police, military and security have guns?
Of course no defence is invincible.
A rapist being responsible for its actions does not physically prevent it from raping anymore than it prevents criminals from robbing a bank.
@Mark Goblowsky, I understand that there are terrible comments on the hashtag. What we cannot know is if the comments are serious or satirical. After all, premise of the hashtag was a satirical take on a stupid way of preventing sexual violence. Some of the questionable comments could be in that vein.
Apparently “DON’T RAPE PEOPLE” is too crazy and outlandish for them to understand. Good to know.
People can be horrible. I wonder about all of us sometimes. This is depressing stuff. Horrible.
Oh goodie, it’s a cornucopia of stupid. Beyond simply being a mash-up of sexism, racism, and homophobia, and even beyond the element of “you deserve it,” a bunch of these tweets are totally perpetuating a bunch of myths about rape. The “undocumented husband,” one, for example, is not only racist; it’s totally perpetuating the myth that husbands can’t rape their wives. The “tell the rapist your pregnant,” one isn’t just homophobic; it’s also perpetuating the myth that pregnant women aren’t raped. And of course the, “be unattractive,” one speaks for itself. It really says something when this: “Don’t carry a… Read more »
#LiberalTips2AvoidRape Do what the criminals do, get a gun illegally. Guns laws only make guns unavailable to law-abiding citizens.
Doesn’t give conservatives the right to use rape to push their pro-gun agenda.
Typically, most shootings are done by law abiding citizens. They’re only criminals after they pull the trigger.
