This heartwarming story shows that you can be a man and still have a dog named Mr. Cutie.
Vietnam veteran John Simpson loves his dog, Mr. Cutie—the dog is his “spark of life.” For a terminally ill man with only days left to live, that spark is especially important.
Last Sunday, Mr. Cutie went missing, but that heartache gave Simpson the will to hang on and see his best friend one last time.
“This is part of a project,” John said during the search for his dog. “Last thing on earth to do is make sure I get my dog back. Part of me feels I can go in peace if that happens.”
Thanks to Missy Figueroa, Simpson will be able to do that.
Figueroa had found Mr. Cutie and posted pictures and information online, trying to find his owner. When she made the connection between Simpson and the dog, she was only too happy to reunite the pair.
At the hospice, Simpson and Mr. Cutie were both ecstatic to be together again. Though Simpson’s doctors don’t expect he has much time left, the hospice has arranged for Mr. Cutie to come visit him every day so that his final days will be happy ones.
