Oftentimes it feels like almost all of the decisions made by our government just don’t amount to much. Every so often they do something meaningful. That’s what it comes down to. I think it makes a difference that this Republican had a gay daughter. Sometimes that’s what it takes. But it shouldn’t.
We’d like to think that when our Founding Fathers spoke of Liberty, they didn’t really just mean white, male, heterosexual, rich landowners. We’ve grown to understand that it is supposed to include every person. If it doesn’t then we are not a nation living the ideals that we think we do. So this is what should have happened a long time ago because it represents us well. At least, it shows we don’t just talk a good game when it comes to Democracy.
To Borrow a phrase from the politicians, and religious right waiting to take the beauty out of this….”Amen”.
Thanks Chris.- Please share this.
“Of The People”, “For The People”, “By The People” has resulted in gay marriage bans in EVERY one of the 31 states (so far), in which “The People” have had their say at the ballot box. Politicians should pay attention to that.
Here is the way democrats think about “liberty”:
H.R. 1170: Child Medication Safety Act of 2003 — Sponsor: Rep. Max Burns [R-GA12]
“To protect children and their parents from being coerced into administering a controlled substance in order to attend school, and for other purposes.”
=> Bill scuttled by Democrats, see “www.newswithviews.com/Blumenfeld/Samuel14.htm”
S. 891: Child Medication Safety Act of 2007 — Sponsor: Sen. James Inhofe [R-OK]
“A bill to protect children and their parents from being coerced into administering a controlled substance in order to attend school, and for other purposes.”
=> Bill scuttled Democrats and by President Barak Obama
Result: Out of every four boys, one will be forced to take dangerous psychotropic drugs as a condition of attending school (amphetamine or Ritalin).
When our descendants look back on this dark moment in history, they will question how a supposedly “civilized” society could force 4.5 million children (90% boys) to take dangerous drugs in order to “cure” them of the disease of “masculinity”. Anyone who votes democratic is complicit in this madness.
By the way, I am a lifelong Democrat. I voted for Obama in 2008. I dragged my wife out of bed to do the same, even though she (correctly) complained that our vote was meaningless (we live in New York). I believe any nation with a Gini coefficient above 0.3 has an inequality problem, and any nation with a Gini coefficient above 0.4 has an inequality crisis. The Gini coefficient for the United States is rising, and has been for 30 years. It will probably cross 0.5 this decade, making the United States a more un-equal nation than Brazil (Brazil was the reigning world champion of inequality until about 1995).
However, Democratic support for the feminist boy-destruction campaign is more important to me than all other issues put together. How can it not be? This is a horror that makes the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII look like a carnival. The administration of powerful personality-killing drugs to MILLIONS of children (90% boys) in order to cure them of their masculinity is a horror so terrible, a crime so unprecedented, an evil so absolute, that nothing else can possibly make up for it.
I will hold my nose and vote Republican in 2012. I think it is the moral obligation of every compassionate and just person to do this.
