Open Thread: What are you doing tonight for Halloween?

Homemade Mask

This is a mask I decorated myself to wear when I go out tonight. Not bad right?

October 31st.

It’s Halloween. What will you be up to tonight?

Will you be taking your little ones trick or treating to collect so much candy they will be sick the next morning if left unattended with their haul?

Are you taking this night as an excuse to party the night away?

Wearing the costume you built or bought out on the town to have fun and maybe win a costume contest?

Did you spent mass amounts of time and effort to decorate your home and yard into a space so scary that the neighborhood kids will never set foot on it again?

Perhaps you’ll curl up on the couch and watch some horror movies and shows? Along with the American classics I recommend some Asian horror titles as well (namely the likes of “Whispering Corridors”, “Vampire Hunter D”, or, “Audition”). If you’re looking for something more recent given Silent Hill Revelation and Sinister a try.

Maybe video games are more your fancy? Try your hand at Fatal Frame, Slender, or Amnesia.

And what do you think about Halloween in general? Is it a fun time for all? Do you think it’s now a night that no longer resembles the festivals for the harvest and the dead that it descended from?

Part techie, part gamer, and part cook, Danny can often be found tinkering with a PC, pondering short story ideas, or playing a game for a write up at Gaming Insurrection (@GamingInsurrec). When asked, “If you're so opinionated, why don't you start your own blog?” one time too many, he did just that. As a result, Danny's Corner was created as a place for the rage, confusion, comedy, and calm that are natural for one that's pondering the basics of being a man. I played an open mic night at a bar owned by some theatre friends and was asked to open for a band when they play my city on their cross country tour. It was a very good night.

      Good to hear Flincher.

I ended up going out with my girlfriend and her daughter on her trick or treating run. Had fun looking at costumes and looking at decorations.

I wore some fun Dia de los Muertos face paint at home:

There’s an annual costume contest at work, but because of logistics I wasn’t able to participate. And I didn’t go to any parties, but I wanted to try out this tutorial I saw online so I swung by Halloween City and picked up some paint and went to town.
