Saturday Night Live: Seriously Bro (No Homo)

Prison rape is no laughing matter, especially in the hands of the bros at Saturday Night Live.

So at a time when male-on-male rape may be a more frequent occurrence in the United States than male-on-female rape, the enlightened bros working for Saturday Night Live (which hasn’t been funny since, uh, ever?) decided to release this jazzy little number:

So I wonder who decided that it would be a good idea to couple this collection of “so-trite-they’re-horrific” homophobic gags with the  ham acting of Kenan Thompson and the half-assed, half-in-the-bag line readings of Lindsay Lohan?  And why does the audience shriek “eww” when ejaculate is mentioned even as it applauds the idea of violent, repeated rape?  Good satire demonstrates the ridiculousness of the way things are.  This garbage, on the other hand, serves only to reinforce a violent status quo wherein millions of men and women are dehumanized on a daily basis.

All I’m left with is:  Really, SNL?  Really?

What has to be wrong with people that they cheer and applaud the notion of rape camps? Is it just that we think rape camps are something that happen in other countries? Is it really just the name?

    Again: REALLY, SNL?

Last night’s episode featured a few more homophobic gags from the bros: http://www.hulu.com/watch/348488/saturday-night-live-were-just-friends#s-p1-sr-i4

    “Oh, you!”

Watching TV last night I lost track of all the “men being raped in prison is hilarious gags”.
I mean seriously, it was relentless, along with being bitten, headbutted in the nads, etc.
There are more constructive things to do than watching TV.
