You know what really says “I will love you for the rest of my life”? Blush, foundation, and just a hint of eyeliner.
At least that’s what awesome-weddings.com would have us believe. An online wedding resource center, Awesome Weddings writes authoritative articles on what brides and grooms should do to prepare for their weddings. Now it’s telling us that we shouldn’t walk down the aisle if we aren’t all dolled up:
Who said only brides could look stunning on their wedding day? With changing times, trends have also changed and nowadays it’s quite common to find men all dolled up for their special day. Weddings are extremely special and so every effort must be made to make them even more unique, memorable and beautiful. So if you are the groom-to-be and literally want to stand out on your big day, follow these tips on ‘how to get the perfect groom makeup’ and look as stunning as your gorgeous bride standing right next to you.
It then lists a series of tips: how to seek a professional, what style makeup to use, how much time to devote, and how to fix up the target areas of your face.
If you wear makeup on a daily basis, by all means, cake yourself in cosmetics. But if you’re not yet on board the guy-makeup bandwagon (and really, other than Steve Almond, who is?), the uniqueness of your wedding will not come down to whether you wear eye shadow. Plus, does your fiancé want you to look as stunning as she does? Do you want your respective families and friends to gaze from the pews and say, “Look at how their lipsticks match. They were meant to be together!”
Shave. Moisturize if you feel the need. Hell, even use a facial mask in the weeks preceding the big day. You want to look your best. (After all, a likely divorce is still three years away.) You don’t have to like it but to tell other blokes not to is absurd. Male culture is very closeted. Fear of homosexuality, make-up, appearing too femme, other men’s opinions of them. Men like to think they are sexually liberated as they tell other men time and time again who they’ve banged and who they want to bang. While they may have notched up several drunken one… Read more »
Thank you! My guy wears makeup on a daily basis, and he’s as straight as can be. That said, of COURSE he’s going to be wearing makeup to the wedding. He wouldn’t be him without it! Now obviously, if the guy doesn’t wear makeup ever, then he probably shouldn’t wear it to the wedding. That just wouldn’t make sense. But the same goes for women too. If they don’t like to wear makeup, then don’t wear it to the wedding! Just because you’re a girl doesn’t mean you have to wear makeup, and just because you’re a guy doesn’t mean… Read more »
why only women should have all sorts of makeup enjoyments?it’s also for men especially eye shadows, mascara, lip creams……………try everyone as the western society do.
I like a man who washes and brushes – everywhere. I’d settle for that!
I hear you. I love to see teenaged boys rocking the eyeliner and tinted moisturizer, and more power to them. But men my age? Smacks of the desperate.
Also, I read somewhere that the most successful relationships were those in which the woman is the pretty one. Or maybe that is just what my boyfriend will have me believe… 😉
