The Best of GMP’s Sex and Sexuality

This is the first of a series of posts we’ll be running this week, featuring editor’s picks from all of our favorite categories.

In case you missed these gems, here are The Good Men Project’s editors’ favorite articles about Sex and Sexuality:

It’s Okay to Want Sex – Harris O’Malley explains how admitting that he was interested in sex—and realizing that women were too—made his relationships more honest and sex more collaborative.

“Can You Have Sex?” – William J. Peace may be in a wheelchair, but he can still f**k. Thanks for asking.

The Myth of the Sex Crazy Nympho Dream Girl – Clarisse Thorn on why men and women “perform” in bed – and why it’s so hard to figure out what genuinely turns us on.

The Clitoris, Demystified – A reader asks sex columnists She Said He Said for instructions on how to handle the world’s most mysterious sex organ.

Getting Off – Can We Talk About Porn? – Tom Matlack asked men and women to get honest about porn.  Here’s what they said.

Why I Love Weird Porn – Noah Brand lays out the connections between esoteric culture, cognitive surplus, and furry dickgirls.

Inside a Strip Club – Tom Matlack’s interview with the former manager of an L.A. gentlemen’s club.

The Best LGBT Books of All Time – Beniot Denizet-Lewis asked leading queer writers to suggest five indispensable books.

Sexual Agon – Liam Day explains how difficult it is for an Irish Catholic kid from an old-fashioned family to embrace his sexual desire… Especially the complicating element of being a bisexual jock.

Grew Up As Girls, Married as Men – For Justin Cascio and his husband Kevin, legally marrying was the easiest part of becoming a transexual, gay, married couple.

It was a challenge to narrow it down to just 10 when there are so many to love! Check out our Sex and Relationships section for more.

  1. Quadruple A says:

I think that an article that discusses desire for sex with somebody you aren’t in a relationship with -whether that is to have a one night stand or something more ongoing- that is not written in a tone of judgment would be a much needed addition to the ongoing discussion of sexuality at the Good Men Project. Such an article might deconstruct the myth that you can’t be interested in the other aspects of a person if sex is your primary desire or immediate desire from that person. It might also even deconstruct the myth that there isn’t or can not be something primarily “relational” in and of itself about the desire for sex. As it stands articles such as “Its Okay to Want Sex” assume that sex is only worth considering as a subject matter of discussion if its within the context of an already established sexual relationship with a woman (or when sex is part of an implied relationship to be). I think that as “Good Men” that there is much more to be said on the subject of sex that broadens rather than limits our concept of what is “good” sexuality.

Im sort of devastated that we accidentally left Panda Three Way off this list! Argghh! It’s a must-read!

  3. I’m not really a fan of Hugo Schwyzer works, but his article about men body here :

    http://goodmenproject.com/ethics-values/the-male-body-repulsive-or-beautiful/

is not only the best article I have ever read in GMP ( and its also about men sexuality, although its belong on health section on GMP) , its the best article I have ever read about men sexuality, EVER. WHat strikes me is how rare those kind of artilce if you search them on internet, although the way Hugo desribe himself is perfectly what I feel like, and I’m sure many men feel like me and Hugo.
