USC and NFL Great Junior Seau Passes Away reports super sad news today

Junior Seau, a 12-time NFL Pro Bowl linebacker, was found dead today in his home.

Police are currently investigating the shooting at the Oceanside, Calif., residence of the former New England Patriot and San Diego Charger’s football star. According to multiple reports, Seau committed suicide, found by his girlfriend at his beachfront home with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The Chargers released a statement on Seau’s death:

“Everyone at the Chargers is in complete shock and disbelief right now. We ask everyone to stop what they’re doing and send their prayers to Junior and his family.”

We here at The Good Men Project mourn the loss of yet another NFL player. We hope that investigators will examine whether or not Seau may have been suffering from the same condition as Dave Duerson.

  1. I’m really impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout to your weblog. Is that this a paid subject matter or did you modify it your self? Either way keep up the excellent high quality writing, it is uncommon to look a nice weblog like this one nowadays..

  2. He didn’t just pass away; he committed suicide. Something’s gotta give; ex football players are killing themselves in droves. How many deaths will it take til we know that too many people have died?

Yeah, we put this up before there was conclusive evidence that he had in fact killed himself. Of course there won’t be a conclusion about how he died until an autopsy and investigation, but it does seem that way right now.

I think you are EXACTLY right about these men sacrificing themselves for this sport. I was talking to the editors today about how I think we need to talk more about how “disposable” these men are. We laud them, make them our heroes, but we don’t mind letting them perform a job that we are learning more and more causes brain damage.

If my sons wanted to play football, honestly, I don’t know what I would do. I try not to prevent anything, but on the other hand, isn’t it my job to protect them? I make them wear helmets on bikes and skateboards to prevent head injuries… Why is this different? These helmets just aren’t protecting these men enough.

I heard somewhere unofficial today (haven’t had time to research) that the life expectancy of a pro-football player is between 55-59 years?! It goes down the more seasons they’ve played?
