Video: Awesome Dad Sends Son’s Toy Train to Space

I got goosebumps watching this.

Awesome dad Ron Fugelseth attached his son’s favorite Thomas the Tank Engine character—Stanley—to a weather balloon equipped with GPS and a camera for a trip 18 miles into space… And 18 miles back down after the balloon popped.

Ron then animated Stanley’s face just the way his son imagines him, to reflect the train’s joy, wonder and concern at being so high up, then relief and joy again when the little boy retrieves the train.

It’s beautifully shot, edited, mixed and has a perfect soundtrack. Big props to Ron for nurturing his son’s imagination and fostering that beautiful sense of wonder that comes with childhood.
