‘She was in there calling for help, and I can swim.’
Officer Edward Norton, of the Boston Police Department, is being lauded a hero after he saved a drowning woman by jumping into the ice cold waters of the Fort Point Channel, in what CNN reports was a ‘torrential downpour.’ Bystanders who watched the rescue unfold said,
He didn’t hesitate. He rand down the stairs, took off his belt, and jumped in the water.
For Officer Norton however, being a hero is all in a days work, after the rescue he told reporters,
That’s our job, to show up when people call for help.
