On our August 7th webcast, we asked our viewers what they thought of the new Ultimate Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and why Marvel was introducing him. The results?

• 11.4 percent of our voters said this was an example of "white man's burden," the ineffective guilt of the empowered over the plight of the oppressed
• 31.4 percent of respondents voted that this was a stop-gap measure until Peter Parker returned from the grave as Ultimate Spider-Man once again
• 57.1 percent of fans decided that it was an honest attempt at bringing in more Black and Latino readers.
