Flatmunder is about helping children to play with the ideas and feelings that can cause their fears.
In response to what has arguably been a pretty scary year, I want to share my fully illustrated children’s book with the GMP community. It’s called Flatmunder. Click here to download a free .pdf of the book and share it with your kids. You don’t need to sign in or provide an email or anything. Just go and get it! Its a great way to help your little ones, ages 4 to 7, talk about their fears in a playful way.
About Flatmunder
This a full color fully illustrated children’s book designed to help families explore ways to play with life’s fears, large and small, and by exploring these fears, transform them into sources of discovery and empowerment.
When a child (or parent) becomes fearful, it creates a place of inflexibility that everyone can get dragged into. Flatmunder is about learning to play with the ideas and feelings that cause our fears.
No matter what the issue is, something small and seemingly minor, up to life’s most profound traumas, we can chose to invite a child’s natural joy into the space. Then we can use that playfulness to explore and transform his or her fears (and ours).
Flatmunder was created in collaboration with Dr. Saliha Bava, a couple and family therapist, consultant, and a leading thinker in the transformative field of play and performance in trauma therapy. You can read more about her work at
