Christian Coleman, the Good Men Project’s new Op-Ed editor, tells a little about himself and asks for your input.
I’ve got an opinion about nearly everything. I’m going to assume that you do, as well. There’s an old adage about everyone having an opinion and an asshole, but I only want your opinion.
That being said, let me say that I’m supremely qualified for this position, almost to the point of being overqualified. I’m studying for a Master’s in poetry at the University of New Orleans, so I suppose I know something about the English language. That’s not why I’m so ridiculously perfect for this gig. You see, I enjoy hearing other people’s opinions. I’ve got my own as well. In fact, I’ve got a decent amount of them, ranging from the best kind of apple (honey crisp) to the best ZZ top song (“Tush”). If you get me to start talking superheroes, I’ll argue about the greatest Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner) right up until kick-off for the Alabama game.
The Op-Ed section isn’t about me though. I want to be the navigator of this ship, not the captain. I want to point the way forward but I’m not going to be heavy-handed in plotting the course. Some issues you feel strongly about, and some you just breeze past but I think most of us have a feeling about everything that we come across. Sometimes, that feeling is strong enough that we need to express it.
I want to hear your thoughts. I want to hear from everyone from athletes to zoologists. The Op-Eds are going to be a place to sound off on things you’ve seen on Good Men Project, other sites, television, anywhere.
Send me your thoughts in 250-500(ish) words. The only rule is that they adhere to the Good Men Project Style Guidelines.
You can submit to me at [email protected] .
Welcome, Christian! It isn’t the right time of year for this question yet, but come fall, I will have more than a dozen challengers to your favorite apple.
Are you sure you only want my opinion?
