Father’s Day Poll: Planters Asks, What Is Your Father’s Favorite Nut?

Almonds, peanuts, pistachios, anyone?

In honor of Father’s Day, The Good Men Project would like to showcase a study conducted by Planters as they launched the new Planters NUT-trition® Men’s Health® Recommended Mix, which features a carefully crafted blend of three nuts men love – almonds, peanuts, and pistachios – and contains six grams of protein and six vitamins and minerals per one ounce serving. The development of the new mix was a collaborative effort – Planters nutritionists developed the mix based on their consumer insights with input from Men’s Health magazine editors.

More than 1,000 men (ages 25 – 64) were surveyed. They answered questions in the following categories: snack preference, domestic roles, health, exercise, child care, and leisure time.

The data results gave rise to the Planters Modern Man Index. The study proved that men are busier than ever; they are looking to get the best out of life and take care of themselves, emotionally and physically. Here is a sample of the findings: 88% of men are grocery shopping more, 86% are doing more household chores, 82% are more involved with child care, 62% are exercising more, and 53% are choosing healthier snacks.

As we honor fathers this month, we would like to extend their research and ask this question: what is your father’s favorite nut? Please leave your answer in our poll and be sure to share your response with your dad!

I think his is Hazelnuts, but he doesn’t eat nuts a whole lot. My mother’s is definitely peanuts.

I feel a little concerned about how these sponsored posts will affect the content and editorial practices of the GMP. I think “Man Up” probably isn’t the best slogan to appeal to a site partially dedicated to reexamining men’s roles. “Man up” is a phrase sometimes use to keep men from questioning their gender assigned roles.

I don’t remember my dad’s favorite nut but if I had to hazard a guess it wouldn’t be almond. It’s slightly more pretentious than the others and pistachios were more my mothers nut. Probably the cashew but maybe the peanut. But he was really a mixed nut man I think. I myself prefer my nuts mixed with lots of different nuts and very salty.

Come on, you know you’re thinking it. I’ll be the first to say it out loud.

My dad’s favorite nuts are probably his own.

P.S. Peanuts are not actually nuts. They are legumes.
