Kenneth E. Hartman’s anthology sheds light on the other death penalty: life without parole.
Spoon had an essay and some poems in a very important forthcoming anthology about life sentences without the possibility of parole: Too Cruel, Not Unusual Enough. You can read more about the project and contribute to the campaign to get this book out to California legislators and policy makers here at The Other Death Penalty Projects‘ Indiegogo page.

So looking forward to the release of this book! Hearing from the voices of those who are most affected by the reality of revenge sentencing will bring truth to light.
For those who believe ‘life w/out the possibility of parole’ is a viable alternative to the death penalty might want to investigate how those sentenced to such a future feel. We all owe it to ourselves to read “Cruel, Not Unusual Enough” as a means of experiencing the humanity of those who have been written off.
Thanks very much for sharing this. Penitentiaries are an integral part of American life for so many people and families, yet most know nothing about them. Pieces like this are very important.
