When I was in middle school, my brother took me to see Coldplay at Radio City Music Hall. It was 2001 and Parachutes hadn’t yet launched them into mega-stardom, Chris Martin hadn’t yet met Gwyneth, and the only other concert I had been to was *NYSNC. I remember thinking, “I have the coolest big brother ever.”
Well, I did — for a while. But that was until an Irish pilot (and big brother) named Michael McMahon went and knocked him out of the top spot. At least in my world.
McMahon is going viral this week after uploading a video of him taking his little brother Robbie for his first plane ride over the Irish countryside. Which sounds cute enough on its own, but what makes the video so special is little Robbie’s heartwarming reaction: He’s full of wonder, awe, and excitement throughout the whole thing.
As McMahon shares in the YouTube caption, Robbie has Williams syndrome — a genetic condition that causes developmental delays, learning disabilities, and other medical problems like cardiovascular disease. According to Williams Syndrome Association, children with the condition tend to be “social, friendly, and endearing.”
And if the pure joy on his face is any indication, we’d say that description fits Robbie perfectly.
