Considering who a woman is, what she enjoys and what she values are important things to think about when choosing a meaningful Mother’s Day gift. My beautiful wife and I have been together 20 years. She’s a Partner at mid-sized New York Law Firm. She has quite a demanding schedule and in her down time she enjoys reading, movies, outdoor activities and working out. She was raised in a very altruistic, academic Midwestern household. She a very loving and caring person. My wife and I are fortunate in many ways,we were blessed with two wonderful children and it’s important to our family to be aware of how the choices we make effect others.
We believe in entrepreneurship and support small business efforts within our community. Luckily, this year Walmart is making available unique and meaningful gifts that will celebrate moms everywhere, all while supporting small female-owned businesses. My son and daughter are so excited about the wide variety of high quality gifts to choose from online at Walmart’s Empowering Women Together offering products made by hundreds of small female-owned businesses clicking back and forth comparing the huge variety of products considering what mommy likes what she needs (and what they want) I have trouble keeping them on task at times!
Because of my wife’s very busy daily routine it’s important to the kids and I that she doesn’t lift a finger on Mother’s Day and feels pampered. Our Mothers Day rituals include the kids helping me make my wife’s favorite breakfast (pancakes) in bed, sharing gifts with a bouquet of flowers and some homemade cards. The kids and I also typically pack a picnic lunch. As a stay at home dad, I know some of the best memories of Mother’s Day for our family have been some of the simplest.
In today’s hectic pace with work, school, sports and other commitments, quality family time is vital and we believe helping other families to enjoy quality time is important also. I’m glad my kids are learning about how the gifts they chose to give their Mom on Mother’s Day are also helping others and empowering women to create new jobs and improve both their own lives and the lives of their families and communities. Our children making the realization that we are all connected and helping others is probably the best Mother’s Day gift of all!
