One Hour From Shabby to Shine

I tried the Armor All Ultimate Car Lover’s Gift Pack. My car and I were very happy.

As a man whose expertise with cars extends to filling the tank with gas when the orange light comes on, ease of use is paramount when introducing some new products into my car-care routine. The Armor All Ultimate Car Lover’s Gift Pack helped transform my dusty, grimy black 2004 sport utility vehicle into the same sleek automobile that rolled off the lot seven years ago. And what’s more, the six-piece package, which comes with a complimentary wash mitt and microfiber towel, was easy to use.

I have a three-year-old daughter who likes to toss the occasional McDonald’s hamburger pickle and a dog who likes to ride in the car, so the inside of my SUV can accumulate dirt and particles with amazing alacrity. To combat these realities, I used the 10-ounce bottle of Armor All Original Protection and the Armor All Cleaning Wipes, both of which cleaned away dirt, dust and debris and left the leather interior looking like it’d gotten detailed. For the windows, i.e., where most of those McDonald’s pickles first land, the Armor All Auto Glass Cleaner provided a crystal-clear, streak-free shine.

Sprucing up the inside of the car is the really easy part. The outside of the car, while a bit more time-consuming, is simply easy with the The Armor All Ultimate Car Lover’s Gift Pack. And frankly, after you’ve made the inside look so dandy, you won’t want to drag your feet to bring the outside into line.

I started with the Armor All Ultra Shine Wash & Wax (16 ounces), which is fortified with real carnauba wax. I first rinsed the car to remove loose dirt, then poured one ounce of the Wash & Wax into a bucket and mixed it with a gallon of water. Using the complimentary wash mitt, I scrubbed the outside of the car. Afterwards I hosed off the car with a quick rinse and dried it with a terry cloth. The whole process took less than a half hour.

The car looked all but pristine, save for the last goal—the tires.

After donning the recommended eye gear and rubber gloves, I sprayed each wheel frame with Armor All Extreme Wheel & Tire Cleaner, allowing the foam to penetrate for 30 seconds. I then wiped the foam clean, washed the tire with a terry cloth and hosed it down. The formerly silver- and black-streaked frames were now sparking silver.

Lastly, the sidewalls of the tires. And for this I used the Armor All UltraShine Tire Foam Protectant, which just happens to be the easiest of all these products to use. Just shake the can and spray, coating the sidewalls (but not the treads), which can be dry or wet. No wiping or scrubbing is required, as the foam settles into the tires and quickly dries. Gone: Ragged looking tires. Arrived: Shiny black wheels.

Inside and out, the Armor All Ultimate Car Lover’s Gift Pack transformed the look of my entire SUV in less than an hour.

Sweet. As a stay at home dad our car is never as clean or shiny as it should be.

I have yet to use an Armor All product that wasn’t awesome. Sounds like I need to give the gift pack a try (maybe I’ll receive it as a gift!).
