In Week 12 of his NFL Diary, Ryan Bradley tells us what he’s thankful for. And what he’s thankful for is football on Thanksgiving.
Maybe it’s just me, but Week 12 in the NFL felt incredibly uneventful. It’s the first week this season I haven’t felt inspired by a particular game or play or player. Sure, Tom Brady once again found a way to beat Peyton Manning, and yes, the Cowboys managed to pull out their second win against the Giants this year. The Jaguars and Buccaneers both won. Again. The Redskins continued to implode. The Colts continued to look uncertain of their identity. I have thought for days on what to write about this week and nothing came to me.
Thanksgiving football is really the thing I like most about the holiday.

So, let’s look at Week 13 instead. Thanksgiving football is really the thing I like most about the holiday. As a vegan my Thanksgiving meals are a bit different than the “traditional” dinners, but even before I went vegan I wasn’t a big fan of Thanksgiving fair. I like mashed potatoes, but not as much as say, tater tots. I do like warm rolls fresh from the oven. That’s a plus. I’m not big on massive get-togethers, preferring smaller more low key affairs.
My favorite Thanksgiving memories are of watching Cowboys games.

But football. I can get behind football. My favorite Thanksgiving memories are of watching Cowboys games. I still don’t know how I feel about the third game the NFL has added to the Thanksgiving slate, but with Pittsburgh improving, their game against the Ravens should be an even battle. The Cowboys are once again positioning themselves to control their own destiny so I’ll be on pins and needles there. And Matt Flynn against Matthew Stafford? Who hasn’t been anticipating that matchup all season…
The true gravy days of the season are coming. Can you believe it’s almost December? The riff-raff is practically weeded out, teams on the bubble are fighting for their playoff lives, and the cream of the crop, well, are they starting to look a bit shaky? The glory days of the 2013 season are ahead, fans, and I for one can’t wait to see who’s left standing.
