Ever since geeks were seven years old, the possibility of one day riding in a hovercraft has been engrained in the typical geek’s head. James Bond did it. Jackie Chan did it. And now, for the price of $190,000.00, you can too.
It may not be a Back to the Future hoverboard, but Hammacher Schlemmer’s personal hovercraft can carry 600 lbs. while attaining altitudes of 20 feet and speeds of 70 mph over land or water. It also holds enough fuel to travel 160 miles at a time.
From the Hammacher Schlemmer catalog:
Operating in fresh- or saltwater and up to 30% inclines over sand, mud, grass, swamp, desert, ice, and snow, its wings and horizontal elevator enable pilots to simply hop over water- or land-based obstacles up to 20′-high unsurmountable to a typical hovercraft. A joystick controls three vertical rudders and the elevator, a twist friction-lock throttle controls forward speed, and a variable drive system controls the lift fan for hovering.
Well it’s not the Autobot Seaspray, but it may come in handy when you’re surrounded by ninja assassins and you need an quick exit over land and sea.

yummy, has a Jetsonsy feel. Although to be honest when i think of possible malfunctions, drunk driving etc, i wouldnt want most people to be allowed to operate a low-flying machine anywhere near or over my house
