What would be
your dream round
of Jeopardy?
If this question sounds familiar it’s probably because you have good taste in literature and have read Douglas Coupland’s Microserfs (a permanent fixture in my personal list of Top Five Favourite Novels), where this metric was used as a shorthand to describe its characters personalities and interests.
For those of you who have been raised in Skinner Boxes and are only just now being exposed to the wonders of pop culture, a brief and patronizing explanation: Jeopardy is a gameshow for those of us who have difficulty forgetting stupid random facts. It consists of three rounds, the first two of which consist of six categories of five questions apiece. Each category is themed around a specific topic, which is all we need to know for today’s purposes.
For the sake of simplicity we’re not going to get into what your dream GAME of Jeopardy would be, since that would involve 12 categories and one final round question. Instead, let’s figure out what your dream round would be. And let’s assume it’s the second round, because that’s where you’ll make all your money.
Here’s mine:
Roger Corman Movies
Comic Book Superheroines
George Carlin Routines
Tori Amos Lyrics
The Whedonverse
Carbonated Sugar Beverages
I’m pretty sure with those six categories I’d be unbeatable. Now, what are the six that you know for a fact would make you a Jeopardy Champion?
Star Trek…and Yes, I Have Kissd a Girl
Painters of the early 20th Century
Where History and Geography Meet
World Religions
Science Fiction as Literature
Prayer Beads- They’re Not Just for Catholics Anymore
Weird how everyone is answering with five categories, when there are six in each round. 🙂
Margaret Atwood Fiction that’s not Science Fiction
Three’s Company Episodes, but only with Chrissy
