What’s your favourite
board game?
Is it an old classic? A TV adaptation? The ultimate party game? Or something only hardcore gamers ever talk about?
As a know-it-all Canadian, my pick is obvious–Canada’s own Trivial Pursuit (yes, it was created in Canada–we even made a TV movie about it, eh?). As a kid I used to quiz myself with the questions and I can credit much of my knowledge of all that occurred before I was born largely to playing the game as a youth.
Monopoly and Scrabble
I love games, but they are not necessarily traditional board games. I love Apples to Apples. I’ve never seen a game before break down everyone’s walls like Apples to Apples. It doesn’t make people feel stupid and it sets up some pretty good laughs. I’ve seen people who weren’t even friends bond over that game…. and I love Scattagories.
Oh, Mott, this is right in my wheelhouse. I am a board game fiend! I love Trivial Pursuit, but nobody in my family would ever play it with me. Monopoly, Risk, and Scrabble are also among my favorites. But I’d say probably Trivial Pursuit is my overall favorite. The skill! The strategy! The difficulty of getting that damn Sports & Leisure wedge! The disappointment when my opponent overturns the game board in frustration! P.S.
