Without warning,
this happens.
One day, out of the blue, and with no way around it – you and your family are told you must leave your current home and move. Now.
You have three hours and the smallest of U-Haul trucks to gather what’s most important and take it with you. Only you and one other family member can pack – no professionals. Everything that you don’t manage to pack into the truck together within this time will be lost to you forever. Furniture, clothing, photographs, electronics, china, cutlery, art, pets, files, toys – all of it.
What do you take?
I think, in three hours, I could pack everything. I’d just need boxes for books and bags for the clothes.
I don’t need 3 hours. The only thing I really care to take are family photos some clothes …. we have a big old house loaded with “stuff.” Years ago we sold our house and I put just about everything on freecycle. kept a few family furniture items but people pretty much cleared us out. It was very cleansing. Moved into one room but as luck would have it … here we are again.
Not at all, Allan. For over a decade, everything I own has been able to fit into two boxes. And I have zero furniture.
Is it sad that I’m pretty sure I could pack everything I own–save for maybe some furniture–into a small u-haul in 3 hours?
Nope, that’s called “Minimalism” and it’s a good thing (see every issue of “Dwell,” LOL 😉
