Men make up the vast majority of the global prison population and for many their human rights are violated under the name of “policy.”

Torture, self mutilation, sex abuse, and extreme overcrowding. These are only some of the worst situations that men in prison face around the world. We engage in conversation about bettering the general social condition for all by bettering the awareness of men. How can we really improve society when so many prisoners’ rights are violated daily? This isn’t just happening in prisons abroad and U.S. military prisons. Prisoner abuse also happens on U.S. soil.

So, after this week’s revelation of 5 of the most dangerous people in the world being released back into the world, and being done to get back one former soldier who walked away from his platoon, do you feel a lot better that there are 5 less men in jail who may have had their human rights violated? I for one think most of these abuses are less horrible than the crimes they in general perpetrated on unsuspecting and innocent victims. Their overall sentences are a lot less than the ones their victims and families were subject to. Except in the case of political prisoners who are merely opening dialog peacefully against regimes that are not so tolerant of any other view, terrorists, rapists, serial killers and torturers have no place in the civilized world and I’m not ashamed to say it either.
