5 Ways to Stay Up to Date on Everything Pop Culture

The world of Hollywood is fascinating. In addition to the stories we watch that are woven by filmmakers, many of us are also engrossed in the daily lives of the celebrities in front of the camera. If you’re intrigued by all things pop culture, you need to stay up to date on both your favorite films and your favorite actors. Don’t miss a second of the action when you follow these five tips for staying current on pop culture news.

1. Watch Awards Shows

What’s the best way to stay up to date on who won the latest acting award? To watch all the events live. When you watch award shows live, you’ll avoid next-day spoilers that take away the suspense. Of course, it’s easy to watch award shows like the Golden Globes, Emmys, GRAMMYs, and Oscars if you have a cable subscription or streaming box. However, don’t forget that many TV providers also allow you to stream from your mobile device so you can watch on the go.

2. Subscribe to Celebrity News Sites

Say what you will about paparazzi, but they do a great job of finding out the latest celebrity news as it’s happening. One way to get all of this news right away is to subscribe to the top celebrity news sites. For example, TMZ is known for breaking some of the biggest stories in Hollywood, and they have a newsletter that delivers the latest entertainment news right to your inbox. Other popular publications include US Weekly and E! Online.

3. Browse Social Media

Chances are, if something big is happening in the pop culture world, it will be trending on social media. To increase your chances of hearing big news right away, follow all your favorite celebrities. That way, you can get your news straight from the source. Just make sure the account you’re following is legit and not a fake. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter all use checkmarks next to the user’s name to indicate that the account has been verified.

4. Listen to Celebrity Podcasts

Podcasts are all the rage, and because of that, tons of celebrities are starting their own iterations. In these shows, you’ll get to listen to your favorite stars be their authentic selves as they discuss current events, past projects, and other thoughts on life. Some of the most popular current celebrity podcasts include “Anna Faris Is Unqualified” (weekly episodes), “Armchair Expert” (created by Dax Shepard with new episodes Mondays and Thursdays), and “Here’s the Thing” (created by Alex Baldwin with new episodes intermittently). All of these podcasts interview a different celebrity for each episode, making them tons of fun to listen to.

5. Watch YouTube Channels

Unsurprisingly, many celebs are also on YouTube, where they create fun and wacky content that shows a bit more of their normal lives. In many cases, these stars release clips of their upcoming projects, giving you early access or a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what’s to come. Popular channels include Zac Efron, Will Smith, The Rock, and more. Browse for yourself, but just make sure the channel has a verified checkmark next to it.
